The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

First listen through the Audioengine B1 is Random Access Memories in 24/96 FLAC and it sounds great. The Bluetooth AAC codec bumps it down to 24/48 transmitted at 256kbps, but because both devices natively support AAC (and I’ve wiped my iPad of literally everything except for Amazon Music), the idea is that there should be no audible difference between wireless and Apple’s native wired fidelity (a DAC connector for the iPad would upend all of this, offering 24/96 with no bandwidth limitations).
The album sounds detailed and smooth, although the top end is still a little glassy for my liking. I think it has more to do with the mastering job. I’ll A/B some warmer recording this weekend between vinyl and the B1.

Just made a down payment on a Decware Zen Triode (25th Anniversary Ed.) tube amp; the payment holds your place in the production line. Class A, tubes, US parts, point-to-point wiring.
Everything is hand-built in IL, and they're about 14 months behind on order fulfillment. Hope to quote this post and tell you how amazing it sounds sometime around Xmas 2023.

I absolutely love my B1. It felt like a total spurge at the time, but I really wanted to hear the second Neil archive in good quality (and on my stereo as opposed to headphones on the work laptop). And with the amount of use it gets, it's worth every penny. I futzed for ages trying to find something similar. I picked up a used AirPort that did OKAY...but was a total headache after awhile. The B1 was a revelation.

I do intent to get a wired DAC down the line, but not for at least a couple more years.

With every move, I've grown to hate my records more and more.
We've got one on the horizon in the fall (hopefully that'll be in for some time) but man alive I'm dreading it.
I hear you. I moved long distance twice in two years, with a possible third (likely local) at the beginning of next year. Really starting to question this hobby.
Due to arrive in a week. Also bought some high end silver speaker cable. Will break them in over their designated 200 hours on my humble Yamaha integrated receiver before upgrading to some fancy amplifier equipment.
First listens will probably be Riot Act, A Ghost Is Born, Nels Cline’s Lovers, and something recorded by Albini.

do you live in a restoration hardware store with a strip of sod on the wall that spike's wife pulled up from mowing over the weekend?
