People usually do this in July, after the sixth month has passed

For music, yes. But for movies we do this on the last day of May. So come on over to the Random Movie-Related Thoughts thread!

RHCP
Kendrick
Wilco

So far three of my all time favorite artists have put out records that share these traits in common:

1. Really inspired songwriting, lyrics and production that rewards repeated listens
2. More of a low-key vibe compared to their previous works
3. Bloated song selection that would benefit from some judicious trimming

I’m wondering if this isn’t all some function of the pandemic production process

Eddie Vedder - Earthling
Warpaint - Radiate Like This
RHCP - Unlimited Love
Jack White - Fear Of The Dawn

I need more time with Lamar, Arcade Fire, Painted Shield and others.

The Smile, Painted Shield, and Wilco are all on my list. I need to check those out. I know there are others that I'm forgetting right now.

I've only heard the singles so far, but I really like "The Smoke". I could listen to that bass line all day long.

It’s one of four tracks that I think are great, and yes it’s all about that bass line

yeah there are some really good moments but it doesn't feel like a cohesive album or finished product overall

It's like 2 songs that would've been very exciting as Radiohead songs, and then a bunch of songs that would've been very boring as Radiohead songs

What a great year for new music

What's funny is that (minus king gizzard) it's all people I've been a fan of for like 20-30 years.. but whatever it's new
