I do really like this album now revisiting it, but I do wish it was about 5 songs shorter.
I had the same thought, now that the initial glow has faded a bit.

This is a really cool record. So far, I'm not sure (like most double albums) why it needs to be a double record.
Because for three years people were like "damn if Two Hands and UFOF were one album it would have been album of the year" and they were like bitch watch this.
Though I remain correct in the above regard.

It’s admittedly exhausting. But not every double album needs to be a single for me…it’s that this album really shines when they get weird and the contrasting overly folkie songs then feel besides the point…like you are waiting them out so that they can get funky and crazy again. I really like Change, Time Escaping, Spud Infinity, Certainty, Sparrow, Little Things, Heavy Bend, Red Moon, No Reason, Wake Me Up to Drive, Simulation Swarm, Love Love Love, and Blue Lightning. There’s nothing wrong per se with the other songs. I just don’t need them on this album.

Yeah I agree with that. A folksy song here or there, like "Wolf"--> "Replaced" on Two Hands, works great, but there's a few too many tracks that feel like interludes on this one.

I was on a long drive last weekend and had the chance to listen to Dragon New... in toto, from Change to Blue Lightning. I had not done that prior. As is usually the case with good double albums, the songs that I don't love are a little better in this context.
From this listen, 12,000 Lines finally clicked for me. I hadn't given it much of a chance and found it boring, but now I think it is really pretty.
