This is the RM hall of fame all over again
The RM Hall of Fame has been pulled off successfully twice, both times muscled through thanks to the sheer force of my will and my conviction that it is a valuable part of RM. I'm less emotionally invested in this project, but so far it is going well
Should you just start a poll like should’ve been done with the Hall of Fame?

How would that work, chris?
you list every band and artist, we vote, and the top 20 win.

.-If you'd like to vote for Eric Clapton, for example, then that vote will reflect Clapton as a solo artist. If you want to vote for Blind Faith or The Yardbirds or any other group he has taken part in, then one of your votes will have to be specifically for that band. That being said, you can vote for something like The Beatles and all four members individually, but it will have to occupy 5 different spots on your list. So just keep in mind that both Soundgarden and Audioslave could appear on the countdown if you'd like to
I wanted to ask about this a little bit when it comes to counting votes. While I think the examples you give are apt, I wonder about how you'll tabulate votes for "bands" that are really just the creative outlet for one person, especially if they've gone through a few iterations.
For example: Bill Callahan is going to be on my list, and I assume he's going to be on trag's list as well. But he used to record under the name Smog, and while he did feature other musicians on those albums (just as he does now), it's pretty well established that "Smog" was just Bill Callahan under a pseudonym. So if I vote for Bill Callahan because the records he's released under his real name on my favorite, but trag votes for Smog because he likes the Smog records, are they both counted for Bill Callahan, or are they counted separately? Jason Molina vs. Songs: Ohia is also an important example of this, I think, as are Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billy/ Palace.
Another name that comes to mind is Trent Reznor. Nine Inch Nails has had a huge crew of studio and touring members over the years, but I think it's generally understood that Reznor has always been the creative engine at the center of the band, basically writing (and sometimes recording) every part, IIRC. He's also had a prolific career as a film composer under his own name. If I wanted to cast a vote for "Trent Reznor," I might want to use the vote to represent both his contribution to NIN and his film work, so will it also count for NIN votes? I don't think this is as good of an example as the ones above.
What say you, Argo?
seems like the move would be just to list the artist's given name, which is a good catchall. will oldham did palace music, bonnie prince billy, etc. same issue with DOOM. daniel dumile wrote all the king geedorah, DOOM, and viktor vaughn material.

I had that thought pages ago, but you said nothing. NOTHING.
I'm at the stage of ballot collection where I just need to be supportive and encouraging of everyone, because right now the tourney needs as many ballots as it can get
