Someone turned me on to Spirit's 1970 album Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sadonicus today. It's a goofy trip, and all over the place. Bluesy, folky, proggy, theatrical, and with some real pre-Van Halen guitar heroics. It's not an awesome album, but there's something oddly compelling about it. There are probably a thousand albums just like it. Any other undiscovered gems from this era you guys enjoy? I mean real deep digging stuff, not like Spencer/Kirwan Fleetwood Mac or Fairport Convention. But I guess that'd be fine too. Basically anything other than Zep, Doors, Beatles, Floyd, and all the other classic rock stuff that saw a big resurgence in the 90s. |
