the singles are so much better in the context of the album....they were kinda boring as singles, but damn i love them here.

NDA is wonderful.

I liked them all but when NDA came out in combination with the video I had the same thought after watching it that I'd had after "Everything I Wanted" -- masterpiece

her lyrics are dark, creepy and hardhitting but witty and light as a feather too

yeah, i agree. Im also a big fan of Happier Than Ever. I love it. Male Fantasy is another great one.

this version of NDA with the drums kicking in heavy at the end is fire

NDA is my favorite on the album. and this version is amazing. I love how she goes a higher register on the second refrain.

yeah, it's absolutely fantastic

Anthony Fantano's review of this really pissed me off, what a pretentious joke

This has been a solid year for music. My top 10 albums are all more or less interchangeable. It's impossible to really rank them. On any given day, each one is my favorite record of the year. There's no far and away, stand out, absolutely #1 for me yet. Which is wild.

This post feels like a perfect continuation of the Chuck Klosterman story I just finished.

But I can't keep quiet about Olivia Rodrigo's album anymore. It's really fucking good.

There. I said it.

Deja Vu is my favorite.

I'm not sure I have a favorite yet. But good 4 u is the one that's stuck in my head the most.

That's toward the bottom for me. It's too Misery Business.

New Croz which features collaborations with Michael McDonald, Donald Fagen and Sarah Jarosz is not bad:

I thought it was okay. There's promise but the songwriting is pretty basic for most of it. I like "Good 4 U" but find it distracting how close it is to Paramore's "Misery Business" -- it makes me want to sing the other one's chorus instead

The Billie Eilish album, meanwhile, is really good. The fade-out at the end of "Billie Bossa Nova" made me realize how much fade-outs have fallen out of fashion in modern pop, it felt so foreign

I essentially agree with Jorge but maybe not as strongly. I'm very forgiving of the pedestrian level of songwriting here.

The production on this album is amazing
Some of it reminds me of massive attack

I guess I'm glad I haven't heard that Paramore song.

I find it to be quite uninteresting musically. The production doesn't save it. Stop the Bobby Lashes hype train -- I'm hopping off.

I am very much looking forward to the Big Red Machine (Justin Vernon/Aaron Dessner) album coming out later this year. I really enjoyed their last album. Of the 2 songs I've heard so far the Taylor Swift one makes me yawn (she does that with uncanny regularity with me) but loving this track with Anais Mitchell, Latter Days:

currently obsessed
