Had no idea these guys had a new album coming but it sounds great so far:

Royal Blood was disappointing.

Manchester Orchestra was pretty strong.

Disagree. I’m loving this Royal Blood album. I only liked maybe 3 songs off their debut and never even finished their follow-up. Typhoons is likely my Aussie winter 2021 album. Love it more with each spin.

I've been big into London "art rockers" Dry Cleaning's debut album lately, New Long Legs. It's another in the wheelhouse of the recent post punk resurgence, and the lead singer's dry delivery just sits well with me. A perfect foil to the solid driving band behind her.

Here's "Unsmart Lady"

<Edit> Just saw one of the youtube comments under the song: "Nico fronting Slint". That's not far off at all.

I cannot think of a bigger waste of an instrumental.

Oh! I see, I see. Apparently she isn't a singer (well, duh) but the band have all been friends for years and really wanted her to join. She agreed because they said it was fine if she just talked.

She does however bring the lyrics I believe.

"If you like a girl, be nice
Its not rocket science"

That's a pretty good one there.

I got my CD of the new Fly Pan Am album, Frontera, in the mail this past Thursday, a week before the official release date. I had kept my expectations tempered as the music is really meant to be one part of a multimedia dance performance, but I've been pleasantly surprised whole it's been in regular rotation these last few days. It's expectedly heavy on the rhythmic focus being a dance soundtrack, but it has a lot of cool textural and melodic interplay to keep the music engaging enough on its own. Right now, I'm putting this alongside the new Godspeed and Mogwai for a trifecta of impressive, high-quality, mostly instrumental rock albums this year.

Errol Linton is a Brixton blues harp player. He released an album No Entry that's the real deal. Here's a live version of the opener, "No Entry Blues".

That was sick. Does his band have just as much freedom on the record? His pianist stole the show.

Never mind, I did my own research. The full Errol Linton album is killer.

Thanks Higgs!

love Dry Cleaning, and her vocal stylings are perfect for them.
