Spiritbox is a Canadian heavy metal band from Victoria, British Columbia, publicly established by guitarist Mike Stringer and vocalist Courtney LaPlante in October 2017. The band's full lineup comprises married couple LaPlante and Stringer alongside drummer Zev Rose, and bassist Josh Gilbert. The band's style incorporates electronic elements and draws from a variety of influences, crossing multiple metal subgenres with its roots in metalcore and progressive metal. Their music is currently released through their label, Pale Chord, via a partnership with Rise Records.

Although being in the metal genre, on of their biggest hits was a ballad called "Constance"
With the theme of losing a loved one to dementia, “Constance” is mainly attributed to Spiritbox frontwoman Courtney LaPlante. She wrote it during 2020’s coronavirus pandemic. And due to the resultant lockdowns, she was unable to be with her grandmother during her passing, in addition to not being able to attend her funeral. So that’s whom the song itself actually serves as a tribute to.
Meanwhile the titular “Constance” is actually a reference to Constance Hryciuk, the grandmother of Dylan Hryciuk, the director of the track’s music video. She also passed away in 2020. And basically, Spiritbox used the occasion of the release of this song to honor both of these artists’ grandmothers.

it's definitely metal, let's stop gatekeeping metal
I like the idea of this band but they've yet to make the song that totally lights me on fire; a lot of shared fandom with Sleep Token though, which is nice; I'd start a Sleep Token thread but it would be nothing but "this sounds like Imagine Dragons" for 3 pages

Sleep Token really took to the spotlight this year. They've been getting a lot of play on Sirius' metal channels. There may be some fans here though.
