really?
do you like her solo music?
yeah a lot, sprained ankle is not only the only boygenius adjacent record that truly clicked with me (i do enjoy others, mainly punisher and historian but they are still not 100% my thing, also i haven't listened to all of them) but it's also one of my favorite albums ever, i like how it feels closer to a very slowed down midwest emo record (reminds me of early pedro the lion but that might be just the religious guilt undertones lol) rather than just mellow folky singer songwriter stuff, i definitely get why her stuff wouldn't be for everyone but I love it
i feel her music is very similar, undimensional. Sprained Ankle was good, but i dont feel like coming back to her music at all.
Okay, so The Record is destroying me. I fucking love it so very much. But it's also got me revisiting the ladies' solo work. And I was wrong about Home Video. It's a fucking perfect record. And right now I think it's better than Punisher.

That's the one on the album that I keep finding myself coming back to the most. I like how the lyrics are tricky
Reminds me of "are you woman enough to be my man, bandaged hand in hand" ed is so full of shit though
been meaning to get back to this, sorry it took me so long.
i didn't mean tricky about the gender element of the lyrics, sorry i was unclear. the trickiness i appreciate is the way it's tough to tell where one line ends and the next begins.
Like: "I don't know why I am The way I am, not strong enough to be your man I try, I can't stop staring at the ceiling fan and Spinning out about things that haven't happened Breathing in and out" it's constantly ending and beginning again in the middle of a new thought
and how regular idioms are twisted a bit to make new meanings kind of.
Like: "Half a mind that keeps the other second guessing" is a cool line, twists off in different directions with each word
that's what i was thinking of when i said tricky i suppose
