It's always enjoyable to see Nirvana in goof off mode.

I very much look forward to this reissue. I am going to be so broke.

How much "new" music will be on it? Courtney's gotta be broke again.

I'm predicting a full live show plus the original Albini mixes. I can't imagine there are many demos or outtakes kicking about after the boxsets.

Nivana geek alert: everything on the original release of In Utero was mixed by Albini except for Heart-Shaped Box and All Apologies (which were remixed by Scott Litt.) Pennyroyal Tea was also remixed for the single but the album version is still the Albini mix.

There's been a great deal of frustration from Nirvana fans in regards to the content on the box set and (in particular) the Nevermind reissue. There's lots of live material they could release, but there's also a number of outtakes and studio jams that haven't been released.

In a perfect world, I'd love to see the original album, a complete live show and most of this get released:

25–26 October, 1992 - Word of Mouth Productions, Seattle, WA, US

Dumb (instrumental)
Dumb (instrumental)
Dumb (instrumental)
Jam
Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle (instrumental)
Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle (instrumental)
tourette's (instrumental)
Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle (instrumental)
Pennyroyal Tea (instrumental)
Pennyroyal Tea (instrumental)
Rape Me (instrumental)
Rape Me
Radio Friendly Unit Shifter (instrumental)

* I'd be happy with them picking the most complete instrumental take of each in this case.

January 19–21, 1993 - BMG Ariola Ltda., Rio de Janeiro, BR

Heart-Shaped Box
Heart-Shaped Box
Scentless Apprentice
Milk It
Moist Vagina
I Hate Myself and Want to Die
Very Ape
Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through The Strip
The Other Improv
Onward Into Countless Battles (Grohl on vocals and all instruments, Cobain on backing vocals)
Seasons in the Sun (Cobain on vocals and drums, Novoselic on guitar, Grohl on bass)

* Almost all of this was released on the boxset, but I'd like to see it included again in a complete and unedited form.

February 12–26, 1993 - Pachyderm Recording Studio, Cannon Falls, MN, US In Utero Recording Sessions

(the album tracks, obviously)

Moist Vagina
Sappy
I Hate Myself and Want to Die
Marigold
"Dave Solo"
Lullaby

* There's also a number of alternate/instrumental takes of what ended up on the album.

January 30, 1994 - Robert Lang Studios, North Seattle, WA, US

Jam (instrumental)
You Know You're Right (instrumental)
You Know You're Right (instrumental)
You Know You're Right (instrumental)
You Know You're Right (instrumental)
You Know You're Right (instrumental)
You Know You're Right (instrumental)
You Know You're Right
Jam After Dinner (instrumental)

* Would love to have decent copies of both of those instrumental jams.

Plus there's Kurt's home demos from that period, we don't really know much about those apart from what ended up on the boxset.

Session Information

This is the recording session where the last Nirvana song, "You Know You're Right" was recorded. For unknown reasons, Kurt Cobain was not present for the first two days of the three days that had been booked for the studio.

Therefore Grohl and Novoselic used the time to record some of thier own material, and experiment with a few other things. On the two days, they recorded a few tracks, some with just acoustic guitars, some with full instruments, and a few experimentary tracks.

One of the songs recorded in those first two days was simply titled 'Dave Acoustic + Voc'. This was actually a very early version of Foo Fighters song 'February Stars', and featured Grohl on acoustic guitar and vocals, and Chris playing a Harmonium.

On the morning of the final day, with Cobain still not present, Grohl and Novoselic continued to record. 'Exhausted' and 'Big Me' were said to be very similar to versions Grohl had recorded previously, featuring Chris on Bass and Dave on all other instruments.

''Butterflies' was also likely very similiar to previous versions Grohl had recorded.

Kurt finally arrived later in the afternoon of the final day and the Nirvana session began.

Should be interesting to see how they handle this.

Jack Endino just posted on Facebook that he's mixed a few things for this too. Some of the tracks from the Word of Mouth and Lang sessions, maybe?

Wonder if Dave's songs would have made the next Nirvana album if things went different.

I have been waiting for this reissue since they did the bleach reissue. For diehard nirvana fans, what show from this era was there best and couldd be included as the live release. And you think we will see I hate myself and want to die put back as the orginal opener?

For live shows, my favorites are 2/14/1994 (Paris) and 2/16/1994 (Rennes). That being said, they seem to have no desire to touch anything from their last European tour (which had some GREAT shows), so I'm guessing we're going to get Live and Loud (12/13/1993) as a live show - probably in both DVD and live disc form. While being a great show, it's also an atypical show with an odd, thrown-together setlist, so it doesn't really represent the era as well as some other shows do.

I honestly have no idea what to expect out of this other than to be disappointed again.

Didn't she lose her stake in Nirvana LLC when Frances Bean turned 18?
