Is that 2013 mix the same as the “old” bootleg? Or did albini redo it all?

The "old" bootleg is the original mix that some idiot marked "rough mix demo" and here we are talking about it 30 years later.

Thanks for the clarification above, i did not know that... so we have 2 albini mixes, no other then?

that 2013 mix that is also on the deluxe 2CD, i suppose same mix as the black cover vinyl. And of course the original 1993 CD minus those 2 songs .

Correct.

- Original Albini Mix (most of original album, and fully bootlegged as "demos" erroneously)
- 3 songs remixed by Scott Litt (2 on original album, 3 on Wal-Mart version)
- 2013 "Alternate" Albini remix

Some of the b-sides were also remixed for the deluxe edition so two mixes for those as well.

Re: the 2013 Albini mixes:

Serve the Servants: While it has grown on me, I think the original is the better mix. It works better as a pop song with ugly DNA rather than an ugly song with some pop sensibilities buried in the mix. Still very enjoyable though, but it's not quite the smack upside the head as the original.

Scentless Apprentice: Similar take as Serve the Servants, but for inverse reasons. As an ugly song with a little commercial brightenin' and tightenin', it's a sonic powerhouse. The 2013 mix amps up the discord a couple notches, but the power of Dave's kick drum kind of gets lost in favor of the edgier guitars.

Heart-Shaped Box: I find the 2013 version to be a massive improvement! I like this much better as an ugly song with some pop sensibilities rather than the radio hit that Geffen wanted it to be.

More later. Am taking this LP side-by-side and sort of chewing on the A/B comparisons.
