Gonna check out the new RBCF for sure. Coincidentally, The Stroppies, another jangle band from Melbourne also dropped a new album today, and so far it's great

2020 and how fast it’s changed.

PJ and Fiona were perfectly 2020, then suddenly 2 months later RTJ4 is perfectly 2020.

The Lido Pimienta album is filled with beautiful and surprising moments; a great mix of pop and r&b with cumbia, porro, and other autochthonous Andean / Latin rhythms

Phil Elverun will be releasing a new album as The Microphones. It's a double LP consisting of one long song.

Have you listened to the recent Mount Eerie shit? It might not be as great as The Glow pt. 2 but I can't imagine that it's awful.

Honestly, I can barely get through it -- it's pretty heart wrenching stuff.

I LOVE The Glow pt 2, Mt Eerie (the album), and No Flashlight, plus a couple of his minor releases like 7 New Songs. I didn't love his foray into Black Metal, and everything prior to The Glow pt 2 was pretty uneven...

My biggest gripe with some of these other projects I haven't really latched on to is that he can sometimes go a little hog wild with his lyrics, at the expense of the music. So if this new "one long song" thing is more Mt. Eerie (the album), I think it will slay. But if it's more like his recent meandering lyrical stuff, it could be really bad.

Also, in some alternate fantasy universe, Phil and Michelle Williams never broke up, and they are best friends with me and my wife.
