Listening to this now...great show. Good to hear "Try" again.

Hot take: I like the shows without Amanda more than the shows with Amanda. Would Jason have a fiddler in the band if he weren't married to one? I doubt it.

I love her solo stuff though. She's a fantastic writer.

I like both. No fiddle shows are more rockin and have more guitar interplay but the shows with Amanda just seem more like a band firing on all cylinders. Her voice isn’t great but it’s a lot better than Sadler handing backup vox.

Very cool. I think this was a benefit they did to help with a friend's medical bills. Never thought it would be released.

They released 'Live from Welcome to 1979' on Bandcamp today. Live in studio covers of Can't You Hear Me Knockin, Sway, Atlantic City, Heart on a String, Storm Windows and others. Worth the $10.

Jason Isbell wrote:Georgia Blue is a labor of love. On election day 2020, when I saw that there was a good chance the state of Georgia might go blue, I came up with an idea: to record an album of Georgia-related songs as a thank you to the state and donate the money to a Georgia based non-profit organization.

I will admit my motivations were a bit selfish. For years, I’ve been looking for an excuse to record these songs with my band and some friends. The songs on this album are some of my favorite Georgia-related songs, but the tracklist is not meant to be comprehensive. I would love to cover Outkast and 2 Chainz, but I don’t think the finished product would be very good. We’re a rock band, so we covered rock songs. We have roots in blues and R&B, so we enlisted some brilliant artists to help us pull off songs by Precious Bryant, James Brown, and Gladys Knight.

My favorite part of the Georgia Blue recording process was having the opportunity to work with these very special artists, and I thank them: Amanda Shires, Brittney Spencer, Adia Victoria, Brandi Carlile, Julien Baker, Béla Fleck, Chris Thile, Steve Gorman, Peter Levin, and John Paul White.

I hope you enjoy listening to these recordings as much as we enjoyed making them. Keep listening to good music and fighting the good fight.

I got to see this guy at his Ryman residency a few weeks back. Amazing place for a show, but a really strange crowd. It seemed like half the people there were there just to see a show or to say they saw him, they were seated throughout and it was eerily quiet in there. Definitely not a gig full of fans. Still a great experience.

I went to two of these shows. The balcony always sits for Ryman shows. I think the whole floor was standing. I had a much better time on the floor than balcony and I was front row balcony for one of the nights.

Yeah probably half the floor was seated, it was really strange. I've seen JI400U 7-8 times, it was easily the worst crowd of the lot.
