Back when I was really, really into Sonic Youth, I was also in the pillaging my parents' old record collection phase of musical discovery. I zero'd in on Creedence thanks to the Bad Moon Rising title connection. I came for that song and stayed for "Keep on Chooglin'." What a feedback-laden adventure. Up until that point, I never would have guessed CCR had it in 'em.
Bayou Country's album art is fitting for the music contained within, too. Great record.

My dad loves CCR.
I grew up liking them alright.
Then I learned they are not from the south but rather the first manufactured boy band, really, from California and that kinda ruined it for me.
They weren't a manufactured band at all, I believe they met and began playing together in high school.
I agree that they seem, at least superficially, a "southern rock band", i.e. one from the south. That was never very interesting to me, so I didn't pay them much attention until I found out they were actually a bunch of middle-class kids from LA. In some respects, isn't that more interesting?

love ccr!
got this like 15 years ago:
it's a ccr box set and is basically all their studio albums + pre-ccr songs, + live songs. up to that point i only knew the hits, so this was a big discovery getting all those album deep cuts. i think the ones that stood out most that i didn't know were "keep on chooglin' (there is a killer live version too), "ramble tamble", and "pagean baby". the full length "suzy q" is also quite the ride.
