The reason I think it's intentional / a joke is because it makes no practical sense for Mike to do a rapidfire ONETWOTHREEFOURONETWOTHREEFOUR, especially if he is the one starting the song off by himself. I also think it's cool though

Honestly does not sound like a mistake to me. Just sounds like a wild fill that resolves itself nicely.
The intention behind that part of the recording was to get people talking. And here we are like 35 years later on a loosely-Pearl-Jam-based message board and it finally paid off.

Yeah who knows. It might be a error from another sessions and the band edited it before brain of j too I don’t know but it works I loved when they did those kind of stuff
