Yes, one from each year 67-70. Doesn’t look like it’s available on Apple Music...anyone interested enough for me to rip these and make them available somehow?

Monterey is of course one of his most famous performances, but I would argue that it's a bit lackluster compared to other live releases. The vibe is somewhat laid back and the performance fairly average. The Paris radio broadcasts, Miami Pop or the best moments from Winterland and San Diego are a lot more urgent and exciting.

The inconsistant disarray of live Hendrix releases is unfortunate and I think he would have been better served by maybe a small handful of themed releases and a 2-disc compilation of the best live moments.

Here's mine!!!

101 Intro (1968-10-12 (E) Winterland)
102 Fire (1969-05-24 San Diego Sports Arena)

I love Jimi so much, when I play air guitar to him I do it left handed. Respect.

Heres mine I put together years ago when I had a job with a cd player... then updated a few times when new releases came out over the years.

Stone Free - RAH 69
All Along the Watchtower - NY Pop Festival 07-17-1970 (ripped from an official DVD)
Earth Blues - Fillmore 12-31 first show
Spanish Castle Magic - Stockholm 69
Manic Depression - Winterland 10-12-68
I Dont Live Today - RAH
Freedom - Atlanta Pop Festival 70
Izabella - Fillmore 12-31-69 1st show
Machine Gun - Fillmore 12-31-69 1st Show (the segue from Izabella to Machine Gun was so good that it made me use this version over the 12/31 late show and 1/1 late show versions)
Foxy Lady - Winterland 10-11-68
Purple Haze - Stockholm 67
Fire - Miami Pop Festival (the SD version is better, but it couldnt fit the disc)
Voodoo Child - Happening For Lulu (again, had to sacrifice better versions for the room available on the CD)

Are You Experienced - Winterland Bootleg (not sure the date, was an old 2 disc best of the Winterland bootleg i got years ago)
Burning of the Midnight Lamp - Stockholm 67
Hey Joe - Paris - 10-18-66 (again, went with a shorter version so i could fit more songs on)
Wind Cries Mary - Paris 1-29-68
Little Wing - Winterland 10-12-68
Red House - Unknown. It sounds like a recording from the Winterland, but it doesnt match up with any of the official releases :/ its a great version though
Hear My Train A Comin' - Fillmore 12-31-69 first show (BEST LIVE VERSION)
Like A Rolling Stone - Winterland 10-12-68
Hey Baby - Berkely 1970 2nd show (I do LOVE the Hey Baby / In From the Storm Hawaii version but this one fit the mix betteer)
Voodoo Child - Stockholm 1969 2nd Show
Wild Thing - Monterey Pop Festival (with some editing to the intro and outro to make it all fit :/ i hate doing that)

Funny that both our comps had 11 songs on 1 disc, 12 on the other.

Well I only stuck with officially released tracks that were remixed from mutli-tracks in stereo.

It certainly would have been a bit different if Paris was a pro recording, Royal Albert Hall was available in non-bootleg quality, etc...

Picking a version of "Red House" is hard. Most people agree that San Diego is the definitive version, but there are so many good ones. Alan Douglas had even released a special CD at one point that was nothing but versions of "Red House" and many of them are unique mixes...

https://www.discogs.com/Jimi-Hendrix-Va ... se/5372734

I highly reccommend the official "Winterland" box set. It's a complete mess - the way it was assembled and presented - but there is at the least a disc and a half of very strong material there amongst some not-so-great stuff.

Thats where I got the Winterland tracks from (except the Are You Experience). Our local record store used to sell tons of bootleg european imports, so I had a 2 disc Winterland set for years before the official release. Also where I got the RAH songs from. The sound quality on both those are very good.

Also, I just realized I left a song off my 1st set, so I actually was up to 13 songs.
Stone Free, All Along the Watchtower, Ezy Ryder (Fillmore), Earth Blues...

The version of Red House I used I got off the net YEARS AND YEARS ago. It was simply labeled "Red House - Best live version ever"

After listening to some Jimi at work the last couple days, I decided I needed a 3rd set worth of live tunes... so I went back and spent the morning moving songs around / remixing / editing.

Disc 1 - The Experience (all songs from the original lineup)
1 - Stone Free - Royal Albert Hall
2 - Fire - San Diego 69
3 - Lover Man - Winterland 10-10-68
4 - Spanish Castle Magic - Stockholm 69
5 - Manic Depression - Winterland 10-12-68
6 - I Dont Live Today - Royal Albert Hall
7 - Sunshine Of Your Love - Winterland 10-12-68
8 - Foxy Lady - Winterland 10-11-68
9 - Purple Haze - Stockholm 1967
10 - Voodoo Child (Roomful of Mirrors) - Royal Albert Hall (the main reason i wanted to remix this, for this version)
11 - Wild Thing - Monterey Pop Festival

Disc 2 - Experience the Blues (The Experience and Band of Gypsys)
1 - Are You Experienced - Winterland bootleg
2 - Burning Of the Midnight Lamp - Stockholm 67
3 - Hey Joe - Paris 10-18-66 (I really wanted to use a longer version but it just didnt work out)
4 - The Wind Cries Mary - Paris 1-29-68
5 - Little Wing - Winterland 10-12-68
6 - Red House - Unknown (most likely a Winterland performance)
7 - Hear My Train A Comin' - Fillmore 12-31-69 First Show
8 - Like A Rolling Stone - Winterland 10-12-68
9 - Machine Gun - Fillmore East 1-1-70 2nd Show
10 - Burning Desire - Fillmore East 1-1-70 1st Show

Disc 3 - Band of Gypsys and Southern Rainbows (Woodstock to Isle of Wight lineups)
1 - Pass It On - Berkeley 05-30-70
2 - All Along the Watchtower - NY Pop Festival (DVD Rip)
3 - Ezy Ryder - Fillmore East 12-31-69 First Show
4 - Earth Blues - Fillmore East 12-31-69 First Show
5 - Freedom - Atlanta Pop Festival 7-4-70
6 - Changes - Fillmore East 12-31-69 First Show
7 - Power of Soul - Fillmore East 12-31-69 First Show
8 - Message To Love - Fillmore East 01-01-70 2nd Show
9 - Steppin Stone - Fillmore East 01-01-70 First Show
10 - Izabella - Woodstock
11 - Hey Baby / In From the Storm - Hawaii 1970 (SO good!)
12 - Voodoo Child - Fillmore East 1-1-70 2nd Set
13 - We Gotta Live Together - Fillmore East 1-1-70 2nd Set

The last set was a tad Fillmore heavy, I thought about using Voodoo Child / Star Spangled Banner from Woodstock, but I just dont like the sound on those woodstock recordings.
The only real good soundboard songs that I did not use (off the top of my head)
Killing Floor - multiple versions
Can You See Me - Monterey
Rock Me - Monterey
Johnny B Goode - Berkeley
Sgt Peppers - Multiple
Steal Away - Fillmore East
Bleeding Heart - Royal Albert Hall / Fillmore East
Catfish Blues - multple
Midnight Lightning - Isle of Wight
Villanova Junction - Woodstock
Jam Back at the House - Woodstock
Tax Free - Multple
Driving South - multiple
Stop - Fillmore East
Roomful of Mirrors - Atlanta Pop Festival (stand alone song)
Dolly Dagger - Isle of Wight (I just can not get into this song at all)
God Save the Queen - Isle of Wight
Star Spangled Banner - Multple

That's pretty much the same as my list too - except "Tax Free" which has two really outstanding versions (Winterland Disc 2 and Miami Pop) and you might not like "Dolly Dagger" but Isle Of Wight is a surprisingly strong version for a song that was rarely played.

It's good, but I don't really consider it a "live" track as the drums were overdubbed in the studio.

This is my very carefully considered single-disc Band Of Gypsies mix, which I also had some help with.

01 Stone Free (Show 4)
02 Lover Man (Show 1)
03 Hear My Train A-Comin' (Show 1)
04 Power Of Soul (Show 3)
05 Izabella (Show 1)
06 Machine Gun (Show 4)
07 Message To Love (Show 2)
08 Ezy Ryder (Show 1)
09 Bleeding Heart (Show 1)
10 Earth Blues (Show 1)
11 Burning Desire (Show 1)

I'm no expert on whats been done to which tracks, but they are two very different mixes, and both possibly are edited down from longer performances??? or different all together?
The Winterland Nights bootleg version, has no flute, and a bit of a Noel solo around the 8 min mark.
at around the 9:50 mark of both versions, Jimi starts in with the final "Trumpets and Violins" vocally it sounds like its the same recording of Jimi, but musically? its not the same at all.
Both tracks time out from start to finish at 11:20 mins... the outtro fuzz / Jimis finally lil guitar strum is identical.

I used the Winterland Box version on a different CD I made, and, since both versions are actually different, why not use them both?

https://jimi-hendrix.servidor-alicante. ... Night.html

The link does indeed indicate its the 10-11-68 version with the flute wiped, but theres other bits that are different as well.

Oh! That's not a bootleg. It's a pirate of the official release "Live At Winterland +3" from 1992.

https://www.discogs.com/The-Jimi-Hendrix-Experience-Live-At-Winterland-3-Ultimate-Concert-Limited-Edition/release/10712824

It was mixed by Mark Linett as opposed to the recent box set which was mixed by Eddie Kramer.

Very different mixes and edits.

That is the case for many of the concerts. There are 80's/90's versions by Mark Linett and recent ones from the Hendrix family which are arguably better mixes, however misguided the presentation.

I'll agree, the Winterland mixes are indeed better. But like I said, I used the official release on a different mix so why not use both :D (its not like the pirate version is bad sounding, and I do like the lil bass fill / solo part)

What made you pick the Winterland "Hear My Train" ?
I LOVE what Billy does on the Fillmore version. Its a little more bluesy than on any other version from him or Noel. I Also really like the BBC Session versions over most of the other studio takes of that song.
