Tough call. Nowadays he can be amazing or very bad. I will probably always go just because he's one of my favorite artists. Sometimes I do leave his live shows reminding myself that he is really a studio guy and not in to the live thing anymore
If he's got an acoustic in his hand it's always gold

last week was the first time i'd seen him perform. people around my wife and i kept mentioning that he was in a good mood tonight. i'm guessing that's why he put on such a fun show. he sounded great (smokey too) and it made for a really cool night. oh, and he played an acoustic set to start which wasn't supposed to happen when i bought the tickets. he told us after a song or two that since he hadn't been up our way in a while he wanted to play songs off of sea change and he was especially excited to perform them with the original backing band that recorded the album. it was perfect.

Beck's doing a concert in Prospect Park tonight. I heard him soundchecking today (Devil's Haircut). Sounded great.
i'm not sure how shows at Prospect Park typically sound, but here in Portland's State Theatre (where the shows i've seen have sounded great) Beck was especially pleasant.

Justin meldal Johnson, smokey hormell, Joey waronker, roger manning, sometimes Nigel godrich. Amazing band when they get together. The modern guilt tour was without them and the band was pretty terrible. So happy they're back together
