Today is the first day of sweater season. Upon coming downstairs and entering the kitchen to begin the breakfast ritual, I of course chose as today's soundtrack:

Very fitting that this thread was bumped for that particular song. I was looking for Christgau's review of a different album when I just happened upon his review of ICHTHBAO in the same issue. thodoks, did you actually write this?

Quote:
YO LA TENGO: I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One (Matador) No one has made more of bohemian easy-listening--cocktail samba, trance-skronk, good old-fashioned slow ones--than our finest cultural miniaturists. I wonder how many casual esportes fans stand in the shadow of this thread, watching the fire breathe?

I was listening to Moby Octopad today and it struck me how much I like the following lines:

Eight o'clock
The lights are on at Shea
Phone turned down
We've nothing much to say
Dozing off the TV drones
House key makes them turn and glance for home

Been a while since I listened to Tortoise. This isn't a YLT song but it's got Georgia in it, so here ya go. Great music for a rainy Tuesday.

Yeah that’s a great song! I didn’t love it when it first came out, but over time it became a highlight of The Catastrophist

Listened to Fade today on Verb's recommendation -- awesome album! Thanks verb.

Team could you rank the YLT albums? I've got like 4-5 I know very well but haven't gone beyond those...

And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out
There's a Riot Going On
Summer Sun
I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One
I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass

And then I'm not ranking Fade because I've only hear it once

My favorite is Painful, i think it captures the escence of the band pretty well.

Also, They Shot, We Score...a comp of their scores for different films is fucking awesome...Their work in Old Joy is astonishing.
