Me too. It's in a lot of ways everything that appeals to me about YLT's whole vibe.

Confession time: I haven't really absorbed 1992's May I Sing with Me too much until today. It's a great guitar album that easily stands up to the more iconic Painful or even Electropura.

Listening right now. Thanks!

I secured tickets to see them at Heights Theater in February. Such a small venue, it's bound to be magical. Capacity is something like 500 people.

I go to one show every 1.5 years, so I try to make it count when I do, and last night I finally got a chance to see YLT. They played a small, sold out theater. At 40 years old, I still brought down the median age, which was great because cell phones interrupting the magic was pretty minimal (though I confess to snagging a quick shot of the band together during "Sudden Organ".)

James and Georgia were locked IN all night, and Ira was a maniac on guitar. The set was heavy with tracks from This Stupid World, and they sounded great, but the deep cuts from their glory years were where they really went off on some wild improv.

I loved the way they structured their show with a quiet set>intermission>blistering freakout set>encore of covers. The energy in the room had a chance to ebb and flow similar to their albums this way. They took us on a wild sonic trip.

The Electr-o-pura songs sound GREAT on this tour, and then I lost it when Cherry Chapstick broke out. Ending with Blue Line Swinger was a solid choice. Way to play to the Houston crowd with a Moving Sidewalks cover. Fun nugget for the local vinyl collectors at the show (most of us in attendance!)

Set 1
Sinatra Drive Breakdown
Tonight’s Episode
Let's Do It Wrong
Tears Are in Your Eyes
Can't Forget
Aselestine
My Heart's Reflection
This Stupid World
Miles Away

Set 2
Before We Run
I Should Have Known Better
Moby Octopad
Fallout
(Autumn Sweater Tease)
Sudden Organ
Cherry Chapstick
Brain Capers
Double Dare
Blue Line Swinger

Encore
99th Floor
(The Moving Sidewalks cover)
You Can Have It All
(George McCrae cover)
My Little Corner of the World
(Anita Bryant cover)

Do it if you have a chance. I missed them on the Fade tour and had been kicking myself for years about it until now. No Ohm last night, though :(

I could have died happy right then and there if they had worked Ohm and Pass the Hatchet into the second set.

Oh man, I’m glad you had a good time. I saw them years ago - Tulsa, maybe 2010?

I don’t have the same familiarity with their catalog as you do, but it was a good show.
