There's not a thread for this band. There's a thread for their umpteenth album Fade, which is a great album, but no one ever decided to start a dedicated band thread. So here you go.

What does your YLT top albums power ranking look like, Mr. Tough?

i return most often to fade, summer sun, and then nothing turned itself inside out, and i am not afraid and i will beat your ass, though the precise locus of each's power - and hence the ability to suitably arrange them into a satisfactory hierarchy - remains for me quite elusive

It's simple for me:

And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out
There's a Riot Going On
I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One

Those are three masterpiece records that I can listen to front-to-back. Everything else I tend to jump around a lot (and then I haven't really listened to Fade).

There’s a Riot Goin’ On is atmospheric and strummy as hell, even for this most atmospheric of bands.

Dare I say it scratches an oft-ignored Sung Tongs itch for me?

It's like a billion times better than Sung Tongs though

Sung Tongs was Animal Collective’s masterpiece, to be fair, but I agree.

I've never agreed with this, although Painful is quite good.

I'm digging into their early catalog this morning and coming up with some buried treasure.
