it's an ok sax solo but it's nowhere near what Parry did on Money or SOYCD, come on. the song is much more strong than the solo.
Maybe, but the best use of a saxophone in a Pink Floyd song is "Two Suns in the Sunset" from "The Final Cut," especially when you factor in how conversational it is with the piano. I don't know how impressive the actual playing is, but coming when it does, as a sort of afterthought to the rest of the album, rarely fails to give me chills.

man, i love that song - in fact, both TSitS and The Gunner's Dream have fantastic sax solos. that's one thing about this album; its power and beauty lie in the extreme contrasts, the peaks and valleys of the sonic spectrum (add to that the Holophonics technology). when a solo, a scream, a rim-shot or a sound effect needs to jump at your face, it really does.

I forgot about "Gunner's Dream"--I used to listen to that on headphones and try to pick out the exact moment where the voice ended and the sax began. A very powerful moment.
Overall "Final Cut" is probably my favorite Floyd album. I like how it's basically a Roger Waters singer-songwriter album but has, as you say, a lot of those really extreme Pink Floyd audiophile moments worked into the sparse, supportive arrangements.
