Anyone simply voting for the song that seems "more nu-metal" or whatever is, I submit, doing this wrong.

Agreed

Totally 100% agreed. Also the "I'm voting for this song because it sucks more" populace can go to hell too.

I don't know that I've used either of these exact criteria to vote but there have certainly been more than a few matches where I've wanted for reasons to vote for either song. Usually I've found myself going for the one that annoys me less, however marginally, but sometimes I have been guilty of making up my own arbitrary criteria.

You also provide some of the best commentary KD, your story about Cowboy had me cracking the fuck up.

Thanks Jammer -- sometimes I feel like I'm being a curmudgeon in these threads, but I've been enjoying playing along.

Who should win this whole thing? My votes go to:

For a legitimately great nu metal song that holds up unbelievably well: SOAD “Aerials”

For comedic, meme value and uber obnoxiousness that permeated much of this genre: Disturbed “Down With The Sickness”

Roots Bloody Roots. It won’t though.

I think "Chop Suey" and "Aerials" are probably the two strongest songs in the tournament.

My favorites are all System of a Down and Deftones songs besides Roots Bloody Roots.

Also nobody said RIP for Chester Hangington yesterday, I like to think he got vengeance by defeating Cowboy.

Gavin Rossdale gave him a tribute during a Bush concert, so it's all good

Last night I had a dream that the bar up the road from my house was hosting a nu-metal battle of the bands. I told Jordan about it and we went over and watched it together.

I think my top 5 would be:

1. Minerva
2. Chop Suey
3. Toxicity
4. Be Quiet and Drive
5. Aerials

I enjoy a lot of Incubus, KoRn and Mudvayne tracks but they're just not on the same level as System or Deftones.
