I was a bit surprised to realize that I had heard every song in the first day of matches before. I didn't recognize a few by name, but must have encountered then on the radio or one of my wife's Pandora stations. I'm not sure if I can say the same about this next set.

Today at work I put XM 41 on, the all nu-metal and post grunge satellite radio station. It was kind of in honor of this tournament but mostly because it's still better than the garbage alt station and pop stations they usually have on.

This tournament has really solidified how well this genre has aged.

It's made a comeback in the 2010's under the guise of the "nu metal revival", while a lot of these bands in the tournament have gone back to incorporating hard riffs, screaming and angsty lyrics on recent albums after years of radio pandering bullshit.
