Me too, actually. Though, admittedly, I'm no sure exactly what the definition is. But if someone asked me to name a nu-metal band, that's where I'd go.

Sub-genres are stupid and arbitrary. I hate them.

I'm thinking this could be the most nu-metal song + video of all time.

Slipknot for me. I feel like this niche of band (Mudvayne, System of a Down, etc). was more commonly ID'ed as nu-metal as the phenomenon unfolded in real time. The "rap-metal" thing seemed to be treated as a separate avenue of fusion, if memory serves; there was certainly still a pretty closed-minded "rap is crap" mentality running through the audiences of many of the nu-metal-ites I knew. I think time has seen a lot more bands get put under that umbrella, though I was 16-17 when that stuff was popular so my memory might not be exactly firing on all cylinders.

Slipknot isn’t really even a Nu Metal band, though. Way too heavy. They’re like legit groove metal.

KoRn started the genre with their debut album, which had hip-hop influences. It was always present.

I forgot about Mudvayne. Silly costumes, but their bass player, Ryan Martinie, is one talented dudebro.

I love “Not Falling” by Mudvayne. I definitely have a certain amount of nostalgic affection for Nu Metal.

Like I said before, I have a hard time with sub-genres. They really seem arbitrary and strange to me. But that aside (sorry to offend, y'all --- CALM THE FUCK DOWN!), I think KoRN, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Linkin Park are all bands I think I'd throw into my "understanding" of the category. But I trust Jordan on this. If he says any of them don't fit the bill, I believe him.

Slipknot is definitely Nu adjacent, to be fair.

What about a band like Stabbing Westward? I don't think they fit but I feel like I've heard them described that way.
