Spinning off the Mars Volta thread
I don't think I've ever been more bored at a show than the Spiritualized acoustic concert I saw about 5 years ago. Completely lifeless slog. I'd seen them a few years prior, a regular electric show, and it was absolutely wonderful.

Sonic Youth, Eternal tour. Horrible seats on the middle mezzanine; it acted as one big bass trap. Sound was awful, song selection sucked, and in retrospect it was clear the band hated being together. I’ve seen them four times before, plus a handful of side project gigs, and they were typically an A+ act. But not that night.

I got dragged to all sorts of lame concerts in New Orleans. I think Slightly Stoopid was probably the worst. The Black Keys sucked both times I saw them.
The Godspeed show I mentioned sucked. The sound was turned down to a whisper (and they are pretty quiet to begin with). The crowd was full of scenesters who were just there to be seen. Two guys next to me were not paying any attention and would not shut the fuck up. They ended up taking selfies in front of the band and left after about 15 minutes. And during the long stretches of near silence, a bartender in the back would yell "ONE, TWO, ONE TWO THREE FOUR..." every time.

Two big disappointments for me were CSNY and A Perfect Circle.
For the former, I don't know what I was expecting, but it just felt like a jukebox.
For the latter, the crowd was just dead, the sound wasn't clear, and it took me like 15 minutes to remember I went, so that shows you how memorable it was.

Yeah. We say CSN open for Tom Petty and they were a huge disappointment. No band, sang to pre-recorded music. Didn’t even have anyone at the mixing board. And they sounded like shit.

Had a similar experience with the last APC show I saw. Crowd was dead, and the middle section of the show just meandered along. My girlfriend actually fell asleep for a few minutes, and it had been her idea to go in the first place.
