Similar to One Tree Hill/Pride these are two songs that are reasonably similar in scope and intent. But Bad is far more gripping

The better version of Bad is on Wide Awake in America. Has more life to it. Maybe try that on for size, spenno? (You'll still probably marginally dislike it.)

Yeah, I still don't like that particular sound the band created in the 80s that carries through a lot of that material; that thumping rhythm, chiming guitars, etc. It just does nothing for me.
