I like all the songs so far (none of them great, though) but there's something I really dislike about the production. It's really loud and muddy and everything kind of blends together for me.

Nice, but I kinda dislike a band releasing that many songs before the album is out. I don't really want to know 25% of the album before the release. I know, I know, I could just not listen to them but it's not like I have any kind of self control.
None of the new songs really wowed me, yet. Let's see how the whole album turns out.

If you're listening to the new songs, MM released "Of Course We Know" on vevo/youtube. Might be my favorite song of theirs in a few albums, and leaps and bounds my favorite of the new songs.

seems kinda preachy and out of touch so far... humans are so evil bla bla bla... save us Mr rock-n-roll star... where are the characters? Where are the driving songs? Give me something personal. Give me something real.

Yeah, that is a great one.
I...I think I'm really enjoying the album on the whole. I'll report back with a more formed opinion after a few listens.

This is a good record, not great, just really good. I'LL give 3,5 out of 5. And after 7 years that almost feels like a dissapointment, but shouldn't feel that way. Still a great band with another stellar record.

The record store I went to last night had all of the vinyl already out for sale. Apparently they missed the memo that the release date got pushed a week. Too bad I already ordered it from the label.
Did you see that they are already recording a followup album? It's an accompanying piece to this one.

I've only heard the officially released tracks, but "Of Course We Know" is still my favorite post-Antartica track. Well, except for maybe "Whale Song".
It makes me think of Modest Mouse playing over the top of a short, hyper-focused Godspeed You Black Emperor track, and I'm on board with that.
