Im listening to it now...so far every song feels exactly the same.
Hey VG, what’s your history with the band? All your comments in this thread have been negative, but you’re listening to the new album. Were you a fan at one time and hope they’lll surprise you or have you always disliked them and hate listened because of the accolades and you’re trying to understand? You have RM history, so I know you’re not just a troll. I’m just genuinely curious. A one time “fuck this overrated band” post would do, but you’re here. I’ll bet Bain and I can come up with albums of career spanning b-sides you’d like better than the new album.
I hated the first albums, basically ignore them. Then they grabbed my attention with Humbug...and kinda loved AM when it came out. Saw them twice, once in 2009 in acl and other time with the foos..but at this point im over them. I kinda feel the image and coolness won over the music. Hell, even the title feels like a parody of something these guys do.
had this on in the background yesterday, sounded like one long bowie impression
This was my take as well.
Album started off pretty cool. Unique in a way and different than expected but it continued on down the same path and felt like one long song by the end.

Over it.
yeah, i feel like it's either highly influenced by or an ode to Bowie. or, it's a cover band of the band Bowie would have on the moon. whatever it is, i heard it, fine with it, but will never listen again.
