I'm playing catchup, but yeah -- the 80's ruled.

Peter’s website is Easter egging new album artwork for I/O, and suggesting people sign up for the mailing list. New studio album is incoming!

Euro tour dates announced for spring. Pre-sale info is live. Shows will present new songs from his “forthcoming album I/O,” with “album information to follow.”

My guess is we get a single sometime soon, and an album in the spring.

i'm gonna be real curious how much tickets will be. his 2002 tour was excessively expensive for the time, i can only imagine what it will be now.

hard to believe it's been 20 years since up.

New album teaser here:

Newsletter suggests we'll get more music with the next full moon (because he publishes his newsletter every time there's a full moon).

First single Panopticom drops at midnight tonight!

Quote:
Musically, Panopticom drives along powered by the engine-room of long-time collaborators Tony Levin, David Rhodes and Manu Katché, underpinned by haunting electronics from Brian Eno. Additional backing vocals come from Ríoghnach Connolly of The Breath. The lyric is, in part, inspired by the extraordinary work of three groups, Forensic Architecture, Bellingcat and the Gabriel co-founded pioneering human rights organisation WITNESS.

This is either the single artwork or the album cover:

I quite like Panopticom. It sounds like his So material, with a touch of Up. It's not blowing me away; it feels fairly derivative of the aforementioned era. But it's inspired, energetic, and his voice sounds great. And the rhythm section is stellar as usual. Getting excited for this album.

Although the mastering SUCKS. Compressed within an inch of its life. That's generally his approach, but I'm hoping the vinyl allows for a bit more dynamic range.

it's alright. i agree with trag- songs sounds a blend of old and his more recent output and makes me wonder if his mid-00 tours playing some of his lesser known 80s material gave him a newfound appreciation for that work and how that sound can be modernized. and yes his voice sounds pretty good here, though it's the instrumental portions of the song that are clicking with me the most. still, this song is a bit too disjointed for my tastes. i'm sure i'll appreciate some of it more the more i listen, and maybe in the context of the album it will feel different, but right now this isn't doing much for me beyond the appeal of finally hearing new music from peter gabriel.

Yes, it definitely is disjointed, which was sometimes a problem on Up
