I've got "And Through the Wire" playing at the bar as I type.

I think it's difficult to curate a bar playlist. It depends so much on the neighborhood, the season of the year, the typical clientele, etc.

For me, I want songs that I know that are largely melodic. I want verity. I want rhythm and melody. But so much depends on mood and time of day/year.

It's nice to have Sonos on your phone and be able to queue up new songs as the mood of the evening ebbs and flows.

I end every single Saturday night here with the appropriate "(Looking For) the Heart of a Saturday Night."

Except last week. For some reason I was really feeling Nilsson's "Jump Into The Fire" to close the night out.

 It's interesting to me that this is the Peter Gabriel song you've really latched onto, but have at it!

I mean, for a bar playlist it's certainly the catchiest thing on Melt.

That's fair, though I'd say that I Don't Remember is the better radio-ready song off that album.

Maybe I'll queue it up right after V-2 Schneider

This isn't a thing anymore. We switched to an in-house system. I can still build my own playlists, but now I'm limited to what's available on the hard drive.

Sorry team. There's some 311 on here though, so there's that.

Cost savings?

Do you have control what goes on the drive?

This system is a more all-encompassing audio/visual package that enables us to show things (ads) on certain screens, and comes with the proper licencing for the music (as opposed to the personal Spotify Premium I was using, which isn't exactly kosher with the licencing companies.)

I have control over the playlists within the library, and have created several that transition during different times of day, but I have no control over what's actually IN the library. A couple of cool features on this thing:

1. You can search by BPM, which really helps maintain a certain atmosphere
2. If you skip a track with the remote app, it gently crossfades to the next song. I can set the length of the crossfade. This makes a huge difference during nightly bar flow. People don't realize you skipped their favorite song. They just forget it came on altogether.

It's the little things.
