Used to be a cute britpop band, became a prog rock band, and then was a pop band with different singers over several decades.

Its still just degrees of metal but Pantera changed quite a bit.

I did, and they sounded the same. Maybe slightly less aggressive on Everyday, but generally, I got the same vibe.

Easier for solo artists to change in an instant but who can forget the stunning transition of David Johansen to Buster Poindexter.

Also of note is Garth Brooks fronting a nu metal band in 2003.
