I have very little idea what I'm doing, some patience may be required at times. Because of how many songs this will involve, I'm proposing a "super bracket" (? I have no idea) for the first few rounds where four songs compete with only one song progressing further - let me know if you think that's a terrible idea. The scope of the tournament is the Cure's core single and album output from 1978 through 1997 (b-sides excluded for the sake of keeping this manageable): THREE IMAGINARY BOYS (1979) 10:15 Saturday Night Accuracy Grinding Halt Another Day Object Subway Song Foxy Lady Meathook So What? Fire In Cairo It's Not You Three Imaginary Boys SEVENTEEN SECONDS (1980) A Reflection Play For Today Secrets In Your House Three The Final Sound A Forest M At Night Seventeen Seconds FAITH (1981) The Holy Hour Primary Other Voices All Cats Are Grey The Funeral Party Doubt The Drowning Man Faith PORNOGRAPHY (1982) One Hundred Years A Short Term Effect The Hanging Garden Siamese Twins The Figurehead A Strange Day Cold Pornography JAPANESE WHISPERS (1983) Let's Go to Bed The Dream Just One Kiss The Upstairs Room The Walk Speak My Language Lament The Love Cats THE TOP (1984) Shake Dog Shake Bird Mad Girl Wailing Wall Give Me It Dressing Up The Caterpillar Piggy in the Mirror The Empty World Bananafishbones The Top THE HEAD ON THE DOOR (1985) In Between Days Kyoto Song The Blood Six Different Ways Push The Baby Screams Close To Me A Night Like This Screw Sinking KISS ME KISS ME KISS ME (1987) The Kiss Catch Torture If Only Tonight We Could Sleep Why Can't I Be You? This is going to be interesting. I couldn’t tell you if I’ve EVER heard one of these songs. This’ll be as objective as it gets. |

Just highlighting this for people's thoughts: Birds in Hell wrote: Because of how many songs this will involve, I'm proposing a "super bracket" (? But I know that's daunting for you and for the general attention span of RM. So, I think you're "super bracket" idea makes a lot of sense. You should reach out to Stip and see if he has any suggestions since he's run so many of these. |

Yeah, my main concern is trying to keep things moving at a reasonable pace lest it become a boring slog for everyone who isn't a Cure superfan. |

I think your super bracket is a good call, then. |

I support the super-bracket idea. I'll try to make my way through most of these albums quickly. I've always really digged these guys but I'm actually unfamiliar with most of their catalog |

I literally know 2 Cure songs off the top of my head. This tournament is gonna be fun for me because I really want an excuse to get to know their work and to hear how others experience the band. |

Just looked it up on YouTube. Never heard it before Wow. I haven't been able to escape it, probably heard it hundreds of times, without putting it on myself. Good song though. |
