Seriously, there might be one or two other albums that I’ve bought this year, but I can’t think of any. And I didn’t even buy the Arcade Fire CD. My buddy bought two tickets to their concert and they were giving a free copy of the new album with every ticket purchased. He gave one to me. So as of this moment I can only think of two albums I’ve actually spent money on this year. The National and Beck. Just a few years ago (maybe five or six) I bought around 40 new albums in one calendar year.

I heard that Brand New album on a long drive with my brother. I remember liking the first half of the album, maybe more. There are a lot of noticeable grunge influences in those songs.

RTJ3 was last year. Would have been on my list otherwise.

Still some stuff I wanna check out before the end of the year, and some albums I've listened a few times but need to revisit but here's my top 10 right now, I'll also add my favorite song in every album because why wouldn't I:
1. Protomartyr - Relatives in Descent (The Chuckler) 2. Jesca Hoop - Memories are Now (Memories Are Now) 3. The New Year - Snow (Recent History) 4. The Courtneys - II (Silver Velvet) 5. The National - Sleep Well Beast (Carin at the Liquor Store) 6. Alvvays - Antisocialites (Lolllipop (Ode to Jim)) 7. The Mynabirds - Be Here Now (Witch Wolf) 8. Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile - Lotta Sea Lice (On Script) 9. Feist - Pleasure (Any Party) 10. Broken Social Scene - Hug of Thunder (Protest Song)
I think this has been a strong year, especially the month of September. The Mount Eerie album is probably one of the best of the year too but I didn't have the heart to give it too many listens.

The FF is damn good, Mike. It snuck up on me -- first few listens it was more of a "this is ambitious and respectable but less enjoyable than previous works." Then about a month later I listened to it again and the whole thing just felt absolutely perfect.
