I can't believe anybody is endorsing this. Generic beyond generic. Blatantly ripping off Zeppelin but not even skilled. The argument that LZ was copying too is only partly true because they still had some originality about them, something new to offer. I listen to LZ mostly cause of the drumming and guitar skillz, which is totally lacking in this.

I know I took a ton of heat for this before.. but I find todays style of music god awful.. I get it people are bored with standard guitar-drum-bass bands, but that's what I like and I'm sticking to my guns
This is the closest thing I'll get to a new zep album (I'm sure as time goes on, or maybe even throughout the new album, they'll form their own sound) and I'm cool with it
There are so many guitar based bands with people playing their instruments. So many.
This band sucks.
Who and where
I'm not talking about people who I have to search the Internet for countless hours to find.. that's nice n all but who has the time

igb, you need to listen to NPR's All Songs Considered podcast, or some other media that introduces new music. There are plenty of good guitar bands out there all the time.

I actually think the drumming is the best thing about GVF.

I'll check them out..
But I mean as for gvf being basic or ripping off lz.. you realize they pretty much wrote this stuff when they were kids.. I'm sure as time goes on they'll come into their own

The comparisons to Zep are unearned. Sure, the singer sounds like Plant and there's a Gibson going through a Marshall, but that's fucking it. Give PG or Presence a spin and then come back to this so you can realize how rudimentary it all is when listened to side-by-side.

Oh come on. Zep 1 and 2 are the absolute play card for these guys. The tone, the production, the vocals, the instrumentation, the drum tones, the drumming, the song structure, the clothing and dress from the singer. Its all there. And its packaged in such a way to sell them as such.
No, they aren't as good or as talented as any of the musicians in Zeppelin, they are just copy cats but the comparisons to Zeppelin are absolutely earned, rational, and completely spot on.

Are you looking for bands that sound like your glory days/classic rock or are you asking about bands that are guitar driven and musicians who play their own instruments? I need to know before I lay down some suggestions

That was kinda my point, Strat. We're being sold a package, but the songs aren't there. Page's writing, head for putting together the parts he had, and studio work outpaced his skills on the guitar. It was always about the songs.
