Holy fuck, Daughters are releasing their first album in eight years. Their last album is probably in my all-time top 10.

First single is a 7-minute noise rock beast:

Listening to Brandi Carlile's new album, enjoying it lots.

Here's The Joke from it. Very confident, very assured.

It’s good. Whatever You Do floors me.

I keep meaning to give that album a listen.

Here's another one I've been spinning this morning that has had me tapping my feet and grooving along the whole way - Charles Lloyd and The Marvels (with Lucinda Williams) new album Vanished Gardens. Opening track Defiant here (albeit without Lucinda).

A few more releases on the horizon over the next couple months:

First up, on August 17, is the new Animal Collective 'visual album,' Tangerine Reef. Shifting away from their recent excursions in neon pop, this version of the Collective (for the first time releasing an album without Panda Bear) aims for something more abstract and tripped out. Here's the first 'single,' "Haircutter":

Then on August 24, Constellation releases the new full length from Automatisme, Transit. Producer William Jourdain continues to create abstracted glitch and dub-inflected ambient electronic music. On this album he explores new territories with generative and probability-based digital patches to arrange his soundscapes. The first sample is "Bureau 1":

Lastly, yet another Constellation release, this one the new album by songwriter/producer Sandro Perri, In Another Life. Perri's last album of vocal-based songs came out in 2011, so this is definitely long-awaited, and is supposedly the first of four albums that he has been working on (not counting his other current project, Off World). Interestingly, this album also features two guest lead vocalists, André Ethier and Dan Bejar. The first taste of the new album is a six minute edit of the 24-minute title track:

I've been feeling a bit stagnant in my listening lately so I thought I'd consult this thread for recommendations. I'm really taken with some of Brett's Constellation Records suggestions, Eric Chenaux and Sandro Perri in particular. I've never listened to either of these artists and am really enjoying both. Just what the doctor ordered, thanks man!

You're very welcome, and I'm glad you're enjoying them. Eric and Sandro are two of my favorite musicians currently working, and I'm stoked that this year is going to feature records by both of them.

I've enjoyed God's Favorite Customer the most this year.

Another one that I've given repeated plays to is Pllush's Stranger to the Pain. Just another 90s throwback album, great from start to finish.
