Death Cab's first few albums are just wimpy indie rock with pronounced emo undercurrents, tales of fly-on-the-wall post-grad suburban boredom, but in my opinion they got really emo around the time of "Transatlanticism," "Plans," etc. My last few trawls through their catalog, I found myself wincing through a lot of songs I used to really like. But there's a lot that's still great -- "We Have the Facts" and "The Photo Album" are two of my favorite albums from that era (I never really cared for "Something About Airplanes"), and Gibbard at his best was an exceptional lyricist.

I'm pretty unapologetic about my love of Pedro's Control, JEW's Clarity and their EP Stay on My Side Tonight and Four Minute Mile by The Get Up Kids . Those are great, GREAT albums.
I think Dave Bazan is the most underrated songwriter of the last 15 years.

I had an idea for a tournament this morning
Local Music
This would be a 128 song tournament, seeded by RMers
-Ideally 16 RMers would submit 8 songs from their local scene (YouTube availability preferred) to be seeded randomly. -Unknown or small label bands only. The idea is to expose the board to new music from your neck of the woods
I'd be willing to run this, or collaborate with someone who is more interested in running it.
