Say what you like about the music, but the sound, production and mastering on this is flawless. Apparently all recorded on original old analogue gear. Even using an old mic to record Giorgio talking about his early days and a later mic for his later years. He was stunned by their perfectionism/level of nerdery.

I kind of liked N.E.R.D. What's happened to them? Nothing they did matched their first album but yeah.

can someone explain the difference between a vocoder and auto-tune? is the vocoder a synth that replicates human voice, without any actual singing involved? my friends and i were having a drunk debate about this while listening to the album.

vocoder is a hardware instrument/effect and auto-tune is a software plugin:

Daft Punk have promised that they'll be releasing their own remixes of the songs on their latest album, Random Access Memories. But Darkside-- a.k.a. Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington-- have beaten them to the punch, remixing RAM in its entirety, and riding roughshod over its smooth patina. Listen below.
