Point being, Nurse was a fantastic comeback album for a band who spent ten plus years in "sonic who?" limbo with the average music fan and I'll fight all of you.

RHCP: Californication - Love em or hate em, it's hard to deny how much this album breathed life back into RHCP's career. Even with JF leaving a 2nd time, it didn't stop them.
Metallica: Death Magnetic - The return of old school Metallica, which many fans had been clamoring for for years. Then, LuLu happened and people gave up, only to get another comeback with Hardwired...To Self Destruct, which captures all of Metallica's styles perfectly. James vocals are amazing on this record, too.
I did also quite enjoy King Animal and Black Gives Way To Blue.
DMB: Big Whisky & The Groogrux King. Finally, a great DMB record that stood up alongside the first 3 and The Lillywhite Sessions.
STP: S/T. This record should've gotten more attention.
Aerosmith: Permanent Vacation. The record that helped them shape their next decade, when it all crashed & burned with I Don't Want To Miss A Thing in 1998, even though Nine Lives was really when it came off the rails.

Didn't Murray St accomplish this first though? That record was a critical darling.

Personally, Schmilco made me care about Wilco again.
Star Wars brought me back after the disappointing Wilco and downright terrible The Whole Love. Did you not like that one? It's like the louder, funner brother to Schmilco.

Wait, so, are we fighting or are we in agreement?
You're right. Murray Street was the comeback.

Oh yeah, that's a good one.
Have you heard the Unmastered version? I prefer it to the official release, as does Flea, according to rumors..

https://sites.google.com/site/rhcpsessi ... ough-mixes
I never knew that existed, but I'm not too interested. I think that Californication and By the Way are two rare albums that benefit from the aggressive mastering. And opening that album with I Like Dirt seems super weird to me. Still an intereting factoid though, so thanks for sharing.
