Thanks KD. I'm glad that was not taken as I really wanted a BitU era track on my team.
I think it speaks volumes that Bruce can have songs as good as "Rockaway the Days" lying around and not be able to find space for them on an album proper.

So far with my picks I've been trying to split the difference between personal favorites and what I thought were the best songs available at the time, but for my last pick I'm going squarely with a personal favorite. This is one of my absolute most beloved Springsteen songs, from the vivid imagery in the lyrics to the lilt of the melody to the gentle empathy in Bruce's delivery. I think it's better than every song on the "Tom Joad" album, from which it is an outtake, and probably my favorite Bruce tune of the '90's (among some pretty paltry competition, admittedly -- this was almost certainly his weakest decade).
"Brothers Under the Bridge"
Saigon, it was all gone The same Coke machines As the streets I grew on Down in a mesquite canyon We come walking along the ridge Me and the brothers under the bridge
Campsite's an hour's walk from the nearest road to town Up here there's too much brush and canyon For the CHP choppers to touch down Ain't lookin' for nothin', just want to live Me and the brothers under the bridge
Come the Santa Ana's, man, that dry brush'll light Billy Devon got burned up in his own campfire one winter night We buried his body in the white stone high up along the ridge Me and the brothers under the bridge
Had enough of town and the street life Over nothing you end up on the wrong end of someone's knife Now I don't want no trouble And I ain't got none to give Me and the brothers under the bridge
I come home in '72 You were just a beautiul light In your mama's dark eyes of blue I stood down on the tarmac, I was just a kid Me and the brothers under the bridge
Come Veterans' Day I sat in the stands in my dress blues I held your mother's hand When they passed with the red, white and blue One minute you're right there ... and something slips...

I've worked out what to do with Tremor's team. I'll wait for the final picks first though. I've got a bracket going but I'll need to get on a computer to sort it out. It may be tomorrow.

Since that a-hole dct took my pick, I have no idea what I'm doing for my final. May need to revisit Tracks or Tunnel of Love. Maybe I'll hit up The River for 3 songs off that one.

"Roll of the Dice" is still available. You're welcome.

I haven't listened to any songs, other than Roll The Dice now, from Human Touch. Is the general consensus that this album and the one released around the same time are both some of his weaker offerings?
The Rising still has some songs left, I may grab something from it.
