Evaporated sounds a lot like Brick

The Battle of Who Could Care Less was my favorite song from those first couple albums, but I never kept up after that

new protomartyr kicks ass, as always

for those who are into 90s indie rock-like stuff, the new bar italia album is outstanding

Picked up my blue wax copy on Sunday. Big contender for AOTY.

Protomartyr was pretty good.

Nothing yet comes close to Young Fathers.

Driving along in the car yesterday and hear a song by Newcastle (that's Aus, not UK) band Dust, whom I'd never heard of before. The song caught my ear so to speak. They have released their (I believe) debut EP titled et cetera, etc and its an interesting listen. I'm always a sucker for an unusual voice, and spoken word is fine by me. The whole album isn't spoken word btw, just this song here. Some post punk, some interesting soundbites, well produced.

Here's "Joy (Guilt)":

Thanks for the recs, gang. My list for the year so far would be:

Feist - Multitudes
Protomartyr - Formal Growth In The Desert
Deerhoof - Miracle-Level
Yo La Tengo - This Stupid World
boygenius - the record
The National - First Two Pages Of Frankenstein

Heavily anticipating the new ones from Queens of the Stone Age, Osees, GUM, King Gizzard, Blur, Brad, Swans and (potentially) Soundgarden.

Ten best songs of the year so far:

Protomartyr - Graft vs Host
US Girls - Only Daedalus
Deerhoof - Everybody Marvel
Yo La Tengo - Tonight's Episode
The Men - Echo
Ulrika Spacek - If The Wheels Are Coming Off
Gaz Coombes - Don't Say It's Over
boygenius - $20
Feist - Become The Earth
QOTSA - Emotion Sickness

what do you think?

if you've a hankering for more, I'd say start with Under Color of Official Right, then the follow-up, The Agent Intellect.

if you don't like what you heard, delete this post.

For Tomorrow
Elimination Dances
Let's Tip the Creator
Graft Vs. Host
We Know the Rats

I know they've pretty much kept the same formula, but I don't care. This one reminds me of Under Color, which is probably my favorite album of theirs.
