I have a friend that got remarried to a woman who hadn’t been married before. I think he just wanted to go to the courthouse, but understood she’d want a bigger to do, so they did a small destination wedding and then a modest reception when they returned. I thought that made good sense.

Though now that I think about it, me and another buddy might have been felt out to see if we’d attend the destination part, but I was sort of estranged from the guy by then and felt it was a heavy ask under the circumstances. We have a sort of complicated past.
