I think the thing that has caused me problems on this website is that I never had a shtick, unless you count "fake cis dude"

Same.

There are certainly times that I'm being funny or making jokes or whatever. But "shtick" has never been my jam. And it's taken me a long time to understand when others are doing it.

We talk about shtick a lot but very few posters are actually all shtick. Though some "do" shtick from time to time.

when you're raised with these norms it feels like they're like breathing right? until you're like "actually you know what, I don't like that, sometimes my feelings are hurt", and then you eventually realise you can step off the carousel
