He is silent as the grave since he went deaf. Before he would rarely bark or growl if he heard something outside, but that was very rare. He's not a talker.

I'm going to give fish another shot. The kids are super excited. 2 year old has never had fish in the house, and the 5 year old remembers the good days, a few years ago before their brief lives with us.
I have a 10 gallon tank which holds 6 gallons of water. I plan to get some Glo fish (tetras, i guess?) sometime this weekend. I filled the tank with soft water. I gave it the appropriate amount of AquaSafe water conditioner and a Aqueon Pure bacteria supplement ball drop thingy yesterday. There is a heater set to 77 degrees, a water filter, and a fun waterfall thingy. I'm assuming the previous fish died years ago because our water was so hard. It was so hard it destroyed our new water heater and kitchen faucet within like 7 years. Finally got a water softener and hoping this will be the difference. I hope they don't die. Please give me advice to keep them alive, if you can.
edit: Well with some research I decided to go ahead and order a pH tester and adjuster. I'll wait til this arrives and will get the pH right before we get the firsh, probably next weekend.

I was drawing pictures with my kids tonight. I drew a sketch of our dog. Then a baseball diamond. It turned into “fill the rest of the page with the things you love most” so I filled up the page with a pizza, drum, wife & kids names, basketball, football, the Master Sword, stick figure out for a run, and an ice cream cone.

A couple cats got into a fight outside my family room window last night, lots of howling and hissing. Freaked the dog out so much he wouldn’t go outside before we went to bed. Walked around that side of the house the next morning to make sure there wasn’t a carcass or something for my kids to stumble upon, and there was a ton of tabby and black fur all over the place, so it must have been a hell of a fight.
