daft twat's thread about moving at the drop of a hat got me thinking about travel, about the wanderlust. i have so many places i'd like to visit. trips abroad, cross-country trips, day trips, and weekend getaways.

i have yet to visit every corner of Oklahoma, yet to visit the PNW, Big Sur, Joshua Tree, Big Sky Country, the Appalachians, Canada, and on and on.

we've traveled a bit this summer. from a trip to my home state (Connecticut), to eastern OK for a float trip, to one last getaway before the school year starts--we're going to Kansas City to hang out with family and catch a Royals game. in December, my wife and i are going to Mexico for a week, and as soon as we come back we'll get on a plane to denver to see what's left of radiohead.

sometimes when i come back from a trip, i'm ready to be home, sleeping in my own bed. other times, i'm ready to get back out there and hit the road.

i'm envious of people who travel the world.

rafting, fly fishing (maybe)...that's about all i've gotten from them since they've been there, which is about two days now.

I've said in another thread that me and the wiffey are currently planning a 2 month caravan trip through December and January (our summer) across the bottom of Western Australia and then through much of South Australia as well. Probably clock up around 8,000 kms for the trip I'd say.

Having a fun time just now visiting the local caravan and camping stores getting stocked up to go. I can't overstate the importance of comfort for your camp chairs. This shit is hell important.

Wanderlust indeed. Will be so good to get some real life back.

I would love to travel more, but young children and the lack of long term childcare in the area limits the options.

I would also love to travel, but can't bring myself to do so alone.
