Our 14-year-old tells us at 9pm tonight that she has to take taco meat and tortillas for 23 kids in her Spanish class tomorrow for their end-of-year fiesta. So here I am making 46 servings of taco meat at 10:00 at night.

That’s true.
End of school year in first week of May?
She only has 8 days left after today.

I swear, my kid has 7 field trips this month. I get it, the teachers are spent (he's in a mega Kindergarten class of 43 kids with 2 teachers due to construction). They get out on May 24th, Bammer.

Do the field trips inconvenience you?
Not really, other than trying to remember if I need to pack a lunch or not and to make sure he's dressed appropriately. I am volunteering to help for one of them.

My kid (almost four) has been in ballet class for like eight months now, totally enthralled, super motivated to get up and do it every Saturday.
Three weeks ago, a girl from her preschool joined the ballet class. It’s new for her, and she’s terrified.
So now ballet class consists of new girl getting scared and mopey, her mom following her in and out of the class ad nauseam (super disruptive), and my kid starting to ape the behavior.
I’m trying to talk with her, bargain with her, say the right anything to make her stop acting like her friend and get back to doing something that until three weeks ago, she totally loved…
BUT her uncle (my BiL) is here this weekend, and he’s diverting the conversation. Like I’ll try to bargain with her — “go back to class and we can go get a cookie after” — and then BiL swoops in with “Some things are scary until you just start doing them, then you have so much fun…” I already tried that! And now she’s just getting mixed messages.

Fuck this shit.
I run into some of this when we do our long stays with my in laws overseas. It’s tough because they mean well and think they’re helping. I’ve gotten short a few times and always feel bad after.
