I'd like to think I've got enough self-awareness that I can tell when my professional relationships are being colored by my ego. So it's less about "these people are pissing me off and I need a break," and more about "Any input I give right now is going to be coming from a bad place, so better take myself out of the conversation."

I was talking to Mrs. Bam recently about a couple personal days, board the dog, kids at school, pure peace and quiet. But the sad thing is I’d just end up doing chores.

I try to do this once every 2-3 months. Maybe play some golf, take a nap, or go to a brewery. Get crazy.
