Yeah, do most people buy cars as investments? I thought they were primarily a mode of transportation.

We’re about to be on our third since 2017, and while I’d never expect to see appreciation in value, we 100% look at the residual/resale value for when we imagine parting with the vehicle

damn, I’ve been driving the same car since 2011. Been paid off for years, 200k plus miles, and I plan to go for another 200k. I love not having a car payment.

What am I doing wrong?

lol nothing at all. We leased one in 2017 and bought it out of lease in 2020; it’s at 94k. We added a second car in late 2020 and that got totaled about two months ago, so now we’re onto our third.
