We need a thread for all the general things Congress does that are appalling when they don't fit into existing threads.
Like this piece of bipartisan shit:
https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-con ... e-bill/720The bill prohibits U.S. persons engaged in interstate or foreign commerce from:
requesting the imposition of any boycott by a foreign country against a country which is friendly to the United States; or
supporting any boycott fostered or imposed by an international organization, or requesting imposition of any such boycott, against Israel.
More info here. It's a good thing this current Supreme Court is pretty rock solid on the First Amendment. The old "we can do anything if we tie it to interstate commerce" is quite the particular level of horseshit, too.

I mean, maybe it's a bill intentionally destined to go nowhere just to get brownie points with AIPAC, but when Donald Trump's your president doing things like this gets more dangerous.

80 years is a good run. I'd take 80 years in heartbeat.

The debt ceiling is going to be an issue again before the end of September. After putting Obama through the wringer a couple times I wonder if the GOP will do the same with a Republican in the WH? They pretty quickly punted it when it came up last in March.

Anyone else tracking the Rand Paul assault story? Something hasn't felt right about the lack of coverage it seems to be getting, given that a sitting Senator was apparently attacked by his neighbor while mowing the lawn, resulting in several broken ribs.

Physical fights between neighbors often come down to politics, HOAs, or love.
My favorite thing about it is how not one person anywhere has jumped up to say "why would anyone want to hurt Rand Paul?"

Asked about it, Paul Ryan's entire response was only about vote counts.

So...Rand Paul is fucking this dude's wife then?

Grumpy old curmudgeons fighting over the condition of their lawns.
It really doesn't get any whiter than that.

I eagerly await an equivalent Democratic member of congress getting injured to enjoy the entirely different response.
To be fair, the limited amount of information makes this weird, but I just don't get it. You make it to retirement and then potentially fuck up your life by assaulting your neighbor? This guy is on the level of the vegas shooter of unusual life patterns if he has a clear past to this point.

So what would happen if Moore does bow out of the Alabama Senate race? Would the GOP just add Luther Strange's name to the ballot, or is it too late for that?

Too late to take Moore off the ballot. Our best hope is reasonable Alabamian's making the right choice.

They'll probably just vote him in, then kick him out.
The dems get to call republicans child molester supporters, and the republicans ultimately get the guy they wanted in the first place in Congress. Everyone wins!

They could set up a write-in campaign. That's what Lisa Murkowski successfully did when she got primaried a few years ago.
