It's always amazing to me that more people don't hear this type of rhetoric from celebrities, politicians, and other public figures and think, "oh this person is a sociopath and a hustler, and probably even a pedophile." Hope is eternal I guess.
So you're saying that ESG investing is actually a gigantic con designed to publicly shame and manipulate businesses into bowing to meaningless social justice causes that do nothing but enrich and entrench the power of the capitalist class? LMAO. Their brochures clearly say the opposite! LEARN TO READ!
Small quibble is that this is "Effective Altruism", not ESG. ESG suggests he would actually be subject to some sort of regulatory framework.
True in a sense, but the marketing pitch is the same: "Stanford grad discovers simple trick to absolve yourself of class guilt!". Though ESG requirements often come is as a condition of seed funding now-a-days.
If ESG was a real thing and not just window dressing, wouldn't it be definitionally in conflict with the fiduciary responsibility to maximize shareholder returns?

I enjoy the tidbit that FTX apparently didn't have a checking account to receive deposits, but instead people were instructed to deposit directly to Alameda Research's account and they somehow kept track of this on the backend.
It's not technically embezzling when you deposit your funds directly into the account of the entity that uses your funds for degenerate gambling.

some of these quotes from the new CEO (who helped liquidate Enron) are pretty amazing
lack of an accounting department, for one
incredible
making all the private investment funds look bad for lack of due diligence

Is there a number yet on this investor group's losses? I'd like to think the majority of them allocated a very small percentage of their capital pool into crypto, but I have no idea how it played out in reality

i believe the total they raised over the last 2 years was about $2B ... they did a couple rounds of equity raises... one was $420 MM for 69 investors ... seemed charming at the time... and now

This SBF/FTX news is a double dose of delicious schadenfreude for me, in that both maniacal crypto bros and insufferably smug effective altruists both get huge humble pies smashed in their faces.
