I'm not sure why people find it difficult to believe people would chose to defend family over principles in a war. This isn't difficult to understand. Everyone makes that decision for themselves.

The various statues were allowed to be put for a practical reason: reconciliation. i don't know if it worked, though.

Stop radicalizing Lenny. The South/Lenny will rise again.

well for all this ugliness, if it results in a watershed generational moment where confederate statues are moved to museums or the garbage can then that's a victory

one less thing for the next generation to have to contend with

they will have their hands full with the robot overlords anyways

Museums.

At least some should be preserved as monuments to the White reaction to the civil rights movement. We don't exactly have a dearth of icons of human culture. Imagine having a large collection of post-Superbus artifacts. That would be fascinating to view.
